1: What does Haruseb means? <Back to Top>
Haruseb means horizon in the Khoisan language. It symbolizes our aim to open new horizons up to you.

2: Where do you live? <Back to Top>
We live in Namaqualand on our own guest farm. It is called "De Brug" which means "The Bridge". We have about 1000 ha (3000 acres) under our supervision and it is stocked only with wild animals. The area teams with exquisite birds and we have 3 different botanical bio-spheres converging in our area.

3: Where do you operate? <Back to Top>
We operate in the Cape Peninsula, Boland, West Coast, Cederberg mountains, Namaqualand, Karoo, Northern Cape, Bushmanland, Richersveld, Skeleton coast, Kalahari desert, Namib desert, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

4: Do you only operate in these areas? <Back to Top>
We are fully prepared to arrange a specific tour/safari to include other parts of Southern Africa. We do this in conjunction of operators from those areas.

5: Where are your pick up points? <Back to Top>
We can pick you up or deliver you to Cape Town, Upington, Keetmanshoop, Windhoek, Kimberley, Johannesburg, Harare, Gabarone and many places in-between.

6: What about special interests groups? <Back to Top>
We cater for specific needs like wildlife, hunting, fishing, mountaineering, hiking, canoeing, white water rafting, historical sites, missionary routes, wineries, flora, etc. Please speak to us.

7: What does it cost?
<Back to Top>
Because each tour is unique, prices may differ but we work on a $200 per person per day. Under special circumstances, we offer a discount of up to 25%. Thus prior arrangements are necessary.

8: What about the security situation? We hear terrible stories of Africa! <Back to Top>
We live here with our families and thus we know the areas. We'll never take you into an area that is not absolutely safe. Our guides are fully trained to handle any difficult situation and can be issued with fire-arms if necessary.

9: Are you a registered company? <Back to Top>
Our guest farm is registered as a members of the Klawer Tourism Board. Haruseb safaris is registered with the Western Cape Tourism Board as an "International Safari Operator".

Our guides can all converse in English, Afrikaans, German and some or other African language. You are in very competent hands!

11: I am a sickly person - can you accommodate me? <Back to Top>
Depending on you medical condition, we are quite prepared. We can alter our trip such that we can accommodate most people.

12: What about malaria, bilharzia and other tropical diseases? <Back to Top>
We try to stay clear from danger areas during the rainy season. All our drinking water is bottled and the rest we used cooked water. The accommodation is "mossy proof" and we supply insect repellants. All our guides are trained in first-aid and the vehicles have a comprehensive first-aid kit on board.

13: What about rain, heat, cold or adverse weather conditions? <Back to Top>
When we plan a tour / safari, we take the normal weather conditions for the particular areas into consideration. We'll let you know what the prevailing situation should be more or less. If you suggest us going into an area that will be as hot as hell during that time of the year, we'll suggest something else.

14: Why do you speak of tours / safaris? What is the difference? <Back to Top>
1: A tour is following the ordinary tourist routes whilst sleeping in guesthouses etc.
2: A safari is an outback, off-road expedition sleeping in tents etc.
